Comprehensive HRiM Esophageal Function Testing & Impedance/pH Reflux Monitoring

The objective is to provide clinical users with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively acquire and analyze High Resolution Impedance Manometry studies and Impedance/pH reflux monitoring studies with this 3-day course.

Day 1 – HRiM Didactic Sessions with Hands-on Exercise

Esophageal Anatomy & Physiology

  • Fundamentals of esophageal anatomy
  • Physiology of swallowing and reflux
  • Mechanisms of GERD

 

HRiM Data Acquisition & Analysis Demonstrations

  • Walk-through of the process of acquiring and analyzing a study
  • Discuss of related software fundamentals
  • Live demonstration of the test sequence and the analysis sequence
  • Hands-on exercise of a real-time study acquisition

 

Day 2 – HRiM Didactic Sessions with Hands-on Exercise

HRiM Clinical Lecture

  • Introduction to Chicago Classification 3.0
  • Clouse Plot data expression
  • Diagnostic category flow chart orientation
  • Role of impedance bolus transit assessment

 

Primary Motility Disorder Lecture

  • Review primary motility disorders

 

Case Study Presentation Physician Debate: Dr. Reginald Bell and Dr. Matt Reveille

  • Three case study presentations including class participation
  • Therapeutic outcomes explanation

 

Day 3- Z/pH Reflux Monitoring Didactic Sessions with Hands-on Exercise

Reflux Monitoring Clinical Lecture

  • Introduction to Z/pH monitoring
  • On/Off PPI testing strategies
  • Introduction to principles of symptom association

 

Z/pH Data Acquisition & Analysis Demonstrations

  • Walk-through of the process of acquiring and analyzing a study
  • Discuss of related software fundamentals
  • Live demonstration of the acquisition procedure and the analysis sequence
  • Hands-on exercise of a real-time Z/pH study acquisition.  Analysis is then performed on sample studies
